Destination: Jesus

State-Line Motorcycle Ministry is a non-profit organization based in Greenville, South Carolina that shares the love of Jesus with our nation's bikers. We have a Godly board of directors and a motorcycle minister. We witness at bike rallies and bike runs. We hold Bible classes, sponsor retreats and host Sunday Bible Studies. Because where most people see a frightening, intimidating biker, God sees a disciple.

The goal of State-Line Motorcycle Ministry is to introduce our nation's bikers to Jesus and lead them to local churches and Christian organizations, so their passion for Christ exceeds their passion for riding. We're here to create disciples on two wheels.

Cherokee Rally

A lot happened this fall at the rally: the tree that we have been setting up under for 13 years was gone, the rally manager would not let me setup under another tree 100 feet away, the crowds were down about 30 - 50%.  It seems everything was fighting us.

On Friday we setup where the tree used to be and the sun did a number on us that day.  People do not want to come to our setup and stand there in the sun.  Cherokee seems to be a hot city when the sun is out.  We normally setup under a big oak tree for shade, which also draws bikers to get out of the sun and to our table.  A biker, Daniel from Ohio, came up and parked right beside us early that morning. The first words out of his mouth were, "I don't know why I am here," meaning why was he on the parking lot with us at that moment.

We told him how God brings people together for help, and maybe God wanted him there with us to help him.  We talked for a while, and we found out that he lost his mother, a brother, a nephew, and then his wife left him too--all in the last 4 years.  He was really down emotionally.  I questioned him about his salvation, and I believe he is saved, but he has lost hope with God. I had just preached on Romans 8:28 a week before and shared with him how God can use the bad things to help us if we would turn back to God and ask Him for help.  We gave him some other verses and encouraged him in the Lord.

Saturday morning I got to our setup place not looking forward to being in the sun.  I just stood there and did not setup for about an hour, praying and waiting on God to show me what I needed to do.  After a while, the owner's wife came out and asked to talk with me.  She told me that they decided that we could setup under the other tree, but this would be the last time we could setup in the parking lot.  We have been doing this for twice a year for some 13 years.  So it was a blessing  and a future problem. I praised the Lord and knew that He had worked the setup out at that moment, and I am confident that He will also work out the future as well. Wherever He leads, we will follow.

On Sunday we had Robert from Tennessee come over in the morning.   He told us after losing his 14-year-old son in an accident, he stopped looking towards God in his life.  He had a good testimony for his salvation, but was not doing anything with God. Again, I had the opportunity to share Romans 8:28 and helped him get back to having a relationship with God.   Both bikers seemed to respond to our witnessing. Please keep them in your prayers.  I do have their phone numbers, and I will keep in touch with them and help them be accountable.

As low as the crowds were, we had a lot of bikers pick up tracts at this rally. What a blessing it was to see them read part of it and take it with them. With the crowds down, we had many opportunities to plant seeds.

We want to welcome John, a new board member to SLMM, who came up on Saturday to help and to see how we setup and operate at the rallies.

God Send A Helper

I am 62 years old, and I do not know how long I will have until I will be unable to continue in this ministry. I trust God that it will be a long, long time before that day comes.

What I am praying for is a helper, who wants to work this ministry. Someone who will let me train him in the coming years, and who will take over one day. He needs to be a Harley-Davidson man who loves God, who has been trained to preach or is now in training. Please pray about this with me, will you?  It will be God, who will work all this out.

How God Works

We met a man, Mr. Parker, about 7 years ago on Main St. in Daytona Beach during a rally. He questioned me about the ministry and my salvation and than gave me a $300.00 gift. During the next couple of years he would send a check from $500.00 to $1500.00 with a note in it saying "As God leads more will come."  After about 3 years we lost track of him, and until now, had not heard from him. He called me the other day and asked how we are doing, and said that he wants to send us some money. What a blessing to hear from him and the money he sends is very much needed.

It is so exciting to see how God works in supplying our needs at the right time. We have not raised enough support for each month, and we look to God to supply the rest. God has been faithful, and our prayer is that we will be as faithful to Him.

Biketoberfest Rally

Once again God has shown Himself faithful by taking care of our financial needs. Our friends out west, who use their time-share to get us a hotel for Daytona Beach Rallies each year, forgot to put in for Biketoberfest. When I got in touch with them about it, they tried and could not get a hotel right away. A week later they found us a hotel for the week and we were praising God for that, but we did not have the money for gas, food, and fees. On the Friday before we left, a couple gave us some of the money we needed to go down to the rally. We trusted that God was leading us to go and that He would supply the rest of the money we would need.

We had many opportunities to witness.  -   Brenda worked in a shop just behind where I set up and she came out and talked with me about her husband. They were not going to church and were not really living for Christ. I talked with her and got their address and have emailed them a list of churches they could visit.  -   I also met James who was under great conviction. I have never seen someone so concerned. He told me that he was saved, but not living for Christ and that he has done some things that he does not believe that God will forgive. I gave him some verses on that subject, but he did not understand them. I have his phone number and will be calling him. Keep James in your prayers.  -   I also spoke with Oscar who was confused about some things that the Bible says. By the next day he began to understand what I showed him.   -  Jim, whom I met years ago, showed up and spent several hours with me.  It gave me the opportunity to talk to him about salvation. He got turned off about what I was saying to him, and so I stopped. Keep him in your prayers.  -   Mike showed up and spent several mornings with me. I did witness to him again, but he did not respond. Pray for him.

Too many things happened on this trip to tell you about all of them. Please take time to look at the pictures,  which have more stories.
