My First Memorial Service

I held my first memorial service at our storefront, and it is was for my wife's sister's husband Bill. They lived here in Greenville, and we were very close.  It was hard to see him die, and then especially difficult to be the one to do the service. God blessed, and I was able to give a good salvation message to those who came. Pray that God will use the service to bring those who need salvation to Him. Pray for Brenda who really misses her husband.

Close Friend Died

Carl Blyth Sr. died July 12. Carl had been actively helping SLMM for the past 14 years. He edited our newsletter as well as helped the ministry with day-to-day operations.  I first met Carl back in 1975 at Southside Baptist Church when it was on  Augusta St.  We met once a month to talk about the SLMM and pray together. Through all that we became close friends.  I will greatly miss Carl and ask that you keep his family in your prayers.

SLMM Support Banquet

We will have our annual Support banquet/picnic on Sept. 25 at the downtown airport this year.  Sept. 25 is on a Saturday, and we will hold the banquet/picnic around 12:00 noon. The theme this year will be like having a picnic.  We plan on having a lot of bikes there and the main message will be on the Rolling Thunder Rally in Washington DC during Memorial weekend.

Please make plans to attend.  We need for all to call or email us as soon as possible so we can know the count for the food preparations.  We trust that many of you will attend.

Continual Prayer

Evangelism takes time and is hard work. Many bikers come and go who want to help us.  We minister mostly to the Harley Davidson biking world, and I am asking you to pray and ask God to send those who would like to work with our ministry to get the Gospel out.

Chesnee Rally

This is a antique rally (mostly Harley Davidson bikes) for which the whole town turns out to host it each year. Lots of old bikes are there which draws many bikers for us to meet and witness to. We hand out 4x6 invitation cards to our services.

The heat was too much for most bikers, and when we got there right from our service, 50% of the crowd was down. I found out that most of the bikers showed up at the rally before lunch and left before we got there. We did however have some opportunities to talk to several bikers from the Greenville area and invite them to our services
