Many people celebrate Christmas, but few stop to ask WHY? God said it very clearly in today’s passage.

God is with us on whatever unexpected journeys we go through. Is God not the Good Shepherd?!

Luke 2:1-7 King James Version (KJV)
1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria. 3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house and lineage of David: 5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
This verse is not talking about taking your problems away but that God can give you peace while going through them. Worry is the greatest thief of joy.

Philippians 4:7 King James Version (KJV)
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
What is Thanksgiving? It is a time to give thanks to God for the things He has done for us this past year. To be thankful one must give something of themselves.

Psalm 100:1-5 King James Version (KJV)
1Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2Serve the Lord with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. 3Know ye that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; And his truth endureth to all generations.
God is ready to give us a second chance. Don’t give up on God, He loves us too much to let a Christian fall away without giving them a second chance. We shouldn’t give up. Go back to God and tell Him you’re sorry.

John 21:15-17 King James Version (KJV)
15And So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Today’s text teaches the difference between two people, both saved; one living for God and the other living in the wrong place with the wrong people.

Genesis 19:1-2 King James Version (KJV)
1And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; 2And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
The Bible teaches us that there are good and bad angels. Most of what I have used here today comes from Tom Shepard who wrote many pages on this subject.

Psalm 148:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
1Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: Praise him in the heights. 2Praise ye him, all his angels: Praise ye him, all his hosts. 3Praise ye him, sun and moon: Praise him, all ye stars of light. 4Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, And ye waters that be above the heavens. 5Let them praise the name of the Lord: For he commanded, and they were created. 6He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: He hath made a decree which shall not pass.

Philippians 4:10-11 King James Version (KJV)
10But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. 11Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
We need to know and realize there is an invisible war raging around you each day and night. The Bible says it’s a spiritual war between good (God and His army) and evil (Satan and his demons).

Ephesians 6:10-12 King James Version (KJV)
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
As Christians we need each other. In this morning’s preaching I want to show you how important it is for all of us to support each other.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 King James Version (KJV)
12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14For the body is not one member, but many.
